Most of the people in our country prefer Government job to the Private sector. The reasons are many. Government job provides safety, security, and many benefits to its staff. One of the most attractive parts of a Government job is that it provides a pension after retirement. It is easy to get a loan for Government employees with the normal interest rate. Many, feel that to be a Government servant is a privilege. You can serve the country and its people and also in the bargain earn handsomely. There are many sectors where Government conducts examinations to select candidates. Bank exam. Comes under Government exam. The banking sector is most favored by the people. The benefits of Government jobs include travel allowances, education for children, provident fund, bonus, and pension. After you retire from the job you don’t have to worry about how you are going to cope with life without a job or without an income.
Every year Indian Government conducts examinations for the selection of the candidates. They are as follows-
- Civil Service Exams. (IAS, IPS, IFS).
- Bank Exams. (IBPS)
- Defense Service ( Army, Navy, Coastal Guard).
- Indian Railways.
- UPSC. (Union Public Service Commission)
- SSC (Staff Selection Commission).
Apart from this Government also appoints teachers, university professors, doctors, engineers, and university lecturers. Let us now see about each sector.
1- Civil Service examinations
IAS, IPS, and, IFS is a dream career of young Indians. It is conducted by UPSC. Date of applying for these exams is made on February 19, 2019. The last date for applying is March 18, 2019. As per UPSC announcement the preliminary exams will be on June 02, 2019. The main exam will start on September 20, 2019. These dates are tentative only and liable to change.
2-IBPS- (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection)
Everyone knows that the banking sector is one of the most sought-after career options in India. To encourage the recruitment and placement of young graduates in public sector banks in India, IBPS conducts various bank exams annually for participating both private as well as government-organized banks. It also provides standardized systems for assessment and result processing services to organizations.

Online registration for the exams is from July to August 2019. IBPS holds PO (Probationary Officers) and Clerical Cadre exams. The exam dates are not announced officially. Tentatively the preliminary exams are scheduled on October 13, 14, 20 and 21. The Main exam is on November 18. The tentative date for exams are as follows-

3- CDS (Combined Defence Services)
The Combined Defence conducted Services exam is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission Services. The recruitment is for Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Indian Air Force Academy. Indian Defence offers the youngsters a dignified, prestigious and lucrative job opportunity. The online application process begins CDS-1 IS October 31st and CDS-2 IS June 12th, 2019. The tentative exam dates are-
The subjects are English, Elementry Mathematics, and General Knowledge.
4- Indian Railways- RRB (Railway Recruitment Board)
India has one of the largest rail networks in the world. It offers the largest number of jobs and it has a separate recruitment board known as RRB.

- Traffic Apprentice.
- Inquiry cum Reservation Clerk.
- Senior Time Keeper.
- Commercial Apprentice.
- Goods Guard.
- Junior Account Assistant cum Typist.
- Senior Clerk cum Typist.
- Traffic Assistant.
Exams are conducted in two phases. Preliminary and Main. The dates are not yet announced.
5- Staff Selection Commission- (SSC)
This exam is conducted to recruit eligible candidates for the post of lower division Clerks, Postal Assistant, Data Entry Operators, and Sorting Assistant.
Registration starts in March 2019. The last date to submit the filled form is April 2019.
The tentative dates for the exams are as follows-
Tier-1 June 2019.
Tier 2 September 2019.
Tier-3 December 2019.

6- Union Public service commission- (UPSC).
The Union Public Service Commission is India’s premier central recruiting agency. It is responsible for appointments to and exams for All India Services and group A and group B central services. It has issued a notification announcing date and procedure for applying defense service exams. The registration starts in February 2019 and the last day to submit the form is March 2019.
Important dates are as follows-
Registration- February 19th to March 18th 2019.
Preliminary exams. June 2nd 2019.
Main exam. September 20th 2019.

It is said that Government job gives you Power. We can see the evidence of this is the kind of people who apply for the gov. job- Cas, MBAs even doctors want a government job. It is not easy to get gov. jobs but it is not impossible also. Young people are overwhelmed by the competitive exams, interviews which does not help in real life anyway. But still, the temptation of gov. job is highest among youngsters. Most of the highly qualified youngsters also say that unless they don’t pass through gov. exams then only they are ready to work in private companies or MNCs. The lure of gov. job will continue to exits.
